Rows reconcile with every statement’s opening and closing balance
Why it exists
Most people’s money is spread across a salary account, a savings account, two or three cards and a wallet. Each one sends a statement, usually as a password-protected PDF, and none of them knows about the others. A card bill paid from your bank shows up as spending twice. A subscription that went up by fifty rupees goes unnoticed for a year.
The usual fixes ask for a lot. Budgeting apps want your bank login, or want the statements uploaded to their servers, so a company you have never met ends up holding a complete record of your financial life.
Ledgerlite reads the statements you already get, on your own machine. It checks every row against the statement’s own balances, shows you how each one was read, and keeps the result in an encrypted vault that only your passphrase opens. Your first month takes one sitting.
From a folder of PDFs to one picture.
Drop the statements in
Bank and card statements as PDF (text or scanned), photos, CSV or Excel. Password-protected PDFs ask for their password once, and can keep it inside your encrypted vault so next month's statement opens by itself.
Check what was read
Every row shows how its debit or credit was decided. Anything uncertain is flagged, and the rows are checked against the statement's own opening and closing balance. Nothing reaches your ledger until you have seen it.
See it all together
Income, spending by category, merchants and budgets across every account. Paying a card bill from your bank counts once, as a transfer, rather than twice as spending.
What it does
- Subscriptions and EMIs
- Rent, SIPs, insurance and OTT are recognised from the statements. See what is due next month, which subscription went from ₹649 to ₹699, and which one quietly stopped.
- A recap for every month
- Categories that ran above your usual, the annual fees, late fees and GST hiding in a card statement, and your biggest expense.
- Split a bill
- ₹6,000 at DMart can be ₹4,500 of groceries, ₹1,000 for the house and ₹500 a friend owes. Each part counts in its own budget.
- Who owes whom
- Money you lent, or paid on someone's behalf, stays out of your spending and shows as a balance per person until it comes back.
- Net worth from the statements
- Bank balances come from each statement's printed balance. Add FDs, gold, property and loans, and import a CAMS or KFintech CAS for mutual funds.
- Goals and a forecast
- Goals measure themselves from your RDs and SIPs. The forecast lays out salary, rent, EMIs and SIPs on their schedule, so you see what is left before the month starts.

Questions
Does it connect to my bank?
No. There is no bank login and no automatic sync. You bring the statements, so nobody else ever holds your credentials.
Where is my data stored?
In one encrypted vault in your browser. The key is derived from your passphrase on each visit and is never written down. Statements are read on your machine and never uploaded.
What if I forget my passphrase?
The data cannot be recovered, by anyone. That is the cost of nobody else holding a key. Download an encrypted backup and keep it somewhere safe.
Can I use it on more than one device?
One browser at a time. To move, download an encrypted backup and open it on the other computer with the same passphrase.
What does it cost?
Nothing. There is no sign-up and no paid tier.
